Of Interest

In our continuing representation of the medical community for their litigation and transactional needs, please note some new and interesting matters.

The firm has been retained to represent a critical care physician and a pulmonologist against allegations that a blood clot in a 70 year-old patient was untimely diagnosed, leading to the patient’s death.  In addition, we’ve been asked to defend a cardiologist against allegations that a patient’s knee replacement surgery was contraindicated due to poor vasculature, resulting in a knee amputation. The firm was also retained to defend an anesthesiologist against potential claims of criminal assault, negligent battery and medical record fraud. In a separate matter, we are defending two pathologists against allegations that Eosinophilic gastroenteritis, an uncommon inflammatory gastrointestinal disease, was misdiagnosed in an infant for years. Additionally, the firm is representing a gynecologist in a lawsuit alleging that an infant’s fetal weight was misjudged at birth, leading to hypoxic injury.

As to transactional matters, we’ve been retained by a prominent orthopedic group to challenge an audit of their billing practices with respect to patient’s payment of co-insurance.  Additionally, we have been retained by a prominent neurosurgical group in an EEOC matter, and are negotiating a 30,000 square foot lease for another large medical practice.
